As women building legacies rooted in faith, we often navigate a world that feels like it's constantly spinning. There are so many voices vying for our attention, so many paths that seem to shimmer with possibility. In the midst of this, how do we stay grounded? How do we ensure we're moving in the direction God has specifically called us?
For me, the answer lies in finding our True North.
I see true north as my internal awareness of where I must go. It's not just a passive direction but an active guidance system, my personal orienting point. It's the unshakeable center that keeps me focused and moving forward, rooted in the truest version of myself, and it's where I feel most authentically me.
Think of a compass. In a storm, amidst disorienting landscapes, the needle steadfastly points north. It's a reliable, unwavering reference point. Our True North is that same inner compass, unique to each of us, reflecting the deepest desires and callings placed within our hearts by God.
But how do we find this True North? And more importantly, how do we ensure it's leading us towards God's best?
The beautiful truth is that our internal compass becomes infinitely more accurate and powerful when constantly submitted to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Think about it. Our own understanding, while valuable, is limited. We can be swayed by emotions, by societal pressures, and by our own fears and insecurities. But when we intentionally and consistently invite the Holy Spirit to guide us, our True North aligns perfectly with God's divine plan for our lives and our enterprises.
Here's what happens when we submit our inner compass to the Holy Spirit:
✅Clarity Emerges: What might have seemed like a foggy path ahead suddenly becomes clearer. The Holy Spirit illuminates the way, revealing the steps we need to take. It's like turning on a light in a dark room—suddenly, the obstacles and the opportunities become visible.
✅Purpose Solidifies: Our True North, when guided by the Spirit, becomes less about fleeting desires and more about our God-given purpose. We begin to understand the "why" behind what we're building, and that understanding fuels our passion and perseverance.
✅Peace Reigns: Even when challenges arise (and they will!), there's an underlying sense of peace when we know we're moving in God's intended direction. Our True North, anchored in His will, provides stability that worldly success or validation cannot.
✅Impact Multiplies: When our personal True North aligns with God's grand design, the impact we can have on the world expands exponentially. Our businesses become more than just ventures; they become vehicles for His Kingdom, influencing the seven mountains of culture for His glory.
Consider Isaiah 54:2 again: "Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations; do not hold back; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes."
This scripture, which has been foundational for me, speaks directly to the idea of expansion and building a strong foundation. Our True North, guided by the Holy Spirit, is what directs that expansion. It tells us where to enlarge our tent, how to lengthen our cords, and which stakes need to be strengthened.
